Christmas Eve is for Birding

Winter Birding

Birding any time of the year is good but somehow it is best in the winter – fewer birds, that’s true, but the ones you do see are the hardy sort and you get them to yourself without crowds on the trails.

Small groups were out on the ice in the bay today  – rather hoping that it is think enough to skate on.

Early Morning Book

Cooling Down

Very early morning beside the river – this town gets lots of sweaty joggers, with or without dogs, which is fine but where’;s the fun?  This young lady plodded past me and then plonked down on the distant bench beside the river to read book – a much better lifestyle balance I think. Reward for effort.

Field Research

Gender Distinction

I rarely post pictures of people whom I don’t know – these two were working in a field at the arboretum. The chap was doing the technical stuff – that’s a tape measure he is waving about – while the girl was dutifully following behind with a clipboard noting down his observations. Had to smile.
