Trail Marking to find a terrific bird

Yesterday we organised and took part in a day-long session installing trail markers at BPQ’s Philipsburg Bird sanctuary with a group of 18 volunteers.

This was, of course, well outside the patch – an hour-and-a-half’s drive outside to be exact but in an excellent cause and it added a really terrific new bird to our year list. This sanctuary is one of the very few places that scarce Cerulean Warbler makes a living and despite many visits over the years we had thus far only ever made contact with it twice.
