Early April and the day has been one of relentless cold rain on top of yesterdays “last fling” snowfall. There has been a lot of bird activity around the feeders and late afternoon this sorry, soggy specimen of a Northern Flicker dropped by – well, if a guys got to migrate, he’s got to migrate but I’d have stayed home in the warm somewhere. It’s another couple of weeks before the numbers reach their spring peak for this species (ref: eBird) so this fellow is part of the early wave. A bit bedraggled, but his bow tie is only slightly askew.
