This past week the garden has been absolutely over-run by parents with their young.
There is a new family of really cute red squirrels who probably live in our roof and make frequent forays down the tree beside the dining room window and onto the deck. Meanwhile there are juvenile Starlings but also parent Cardinals feeding their young seeds at the feeders and a family of four White-breasted Nuthatches who are concentrating on the peanut feeder and trying hard to empty it. The youngsters, when you get close enough to them (they also like the tree by the window) have the shiniest, newest, most snappy feather coats you could imagine. All brand new from the clothing store.
