Garden list #24 – Patch #46 – Year #104

Much excitement this morning when a medium sized, brown streak-breasted bird with a large beak appeared at the garden feeders as we initially thought we had an exceptionally early female Rose-breasted Grosbeak but on closer examination we discerned that its streaking was too heavy and widely distributed, wing bars were not really present and on blowing up a photograph that its beak, while heavy, was not ‘gros’ – it did have a quite marked white eye-brow… so a female Purple Finch  and a new patch and garden list tick.

A good start to Easter Sunday … now where is the Easter Bunny (inside Mr Fox, we suspect)
