Not too cold a day, today – compared to recent days we reached a balmy -10C this afternoon and the sun was shining and the sky was blue so I decided another check of the Ste-Anne locks and rapids was in order to see if any more waterfowl had turned up.
Really wasn’t productive – four of the five Common Mergansers I found there a week or so ago were still lurking but with their heads firmly tucked under their wings. The wind was coming right at me directly off the river ice and it was hard to see through the scope so copiously were my eyes watering. Still, better than sitting at home getting cabin fever and it’s always nice down there, though on the scale of niceness the wind today put it at the lower end of tolerable.
Look at the forecast windchill they have predicted below for this evening … now that is cold!
