Busy day with Juncoes

Winter, or at least cooler weather, must be on its way – despite the Indian Summer we have had recently. A couple of days ago we saw a small group of Juncoes in the garden and around noon today they returned with a pair of  White-throated Sparrows, a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, a couple of Ruby-crowned Kinglets amongst others.

The Juncoes were amusing – one at least was really keen to get into the bird-bathing-pool but kept being scared off by other, bossier birds. Eventually, he got it to himself and managed a dip, a wash and a drink but he/she was remarkably timid while the others just barrelled in and splashed about.

(Photographic note … the couple of more unfocussed images were taken through a window from indoors, the better ones with just air between the lens and the bird)
