If it wasn’t a new year with a new list this would not be worth mentioning but an American Robin appeared in the rowan tree just now. Tick.
There’s a big dump of snow due in the area Sunday and Monday but after that I plan a circuit of nearby Ile Perrot – there has never been a year like this for Snowy Owls and some of the flat fields over there “should” be suitable for one or two to settle into. It’s not an area that gets much birding attention so it would be exciting to find one … everyone goes to St-Clet where they are relatively easy to spot … this year anyway but St-Clet is outside the self-defined patch I am working in 2014.
